In 1968 I booked the Jeff Beck Group for a college dance for the grand sum of £125 - we had enquired about Manfred Mann but they were £2000!!

The band, including Rod Stewart, were all super professional and turned up many hours early for a sound check and gave us a great night.

My second favourite Strat player after Buddy Holly and that is praise indeed.

Jeff plays a Strat exclusively now. He used to alternate between a Les Paul and a Strat.

I got the Box Set "Beckology". It has some pre Yardbirds material on it. Even then, and he hadn't developed into the player he now is, you could hear him striving to get new and different sounds from his guitar. I think that Jeff has always searched for sounds, not notes from his instrument. He shapes them in a way that nobody else can. Apparently Hendrix was very much influenced by Beck. I find the difference to be that Jimi would take it to the edge and dive off, Jeff goes to the edge, peeks over and comes back.

I saw him a couple of years ago at Toronto's Massey Hall. He's quite into tecno now, which I wasn't crazy about, but he sure played the hell out of it.

jeff beck played a strat didn't he, and so did eric and jimmy page played a les paul, all of them are great guitarists.

i liked jeff beck also when he was with the yardbirds, funny how time changes the direction of things, those 3 together in one band wow. BOB

His work with the The Yardbirds was a big influence for me in the 60s.

The Yardbirds...! What other band could boast Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page at the height of their powers as its successive lead guitarists!

Ah, JP,

Truth was a classic. I thought that Jeff's Blues playing was suspect on that one (Blues Deluxe). Jeff is my favourite electric player. Up until "Brush With The Blues" I thought that "Goodbye Porkpie Hat" was the be all and end all to his playing. Have you heard the tune that I'm referring to? Incredible feel and tone.

TRUTH, will always be the definitive Beck blues album for me. (And Rod Stewart has never ever sounded better, than he did on this and the Beck-O-La album. He was born to sing blues!)

Okay, so I'm a blues guy who found the genre through the sixties rock guys. I've been able to go from there back to the originals, but I have to say that Jeff Beck's "Brush With The Blues" is the one of the most masterful electric Blues tunes I've ever heard. I don't really like the rest of the "Who Else" CD, far too techno, but this track is a beauty.
