Subject: RE: Lyr Req: One Night I Came Home to My Kitty From: Jim Dixon Date: 03 Apr 07 - 09:28 AM Frank Quinn and Nan Fitzpatrick sing ONE NIGHT I CAME HOME TO MY KITTY on the album "If You Are Irish," Arhoolie CD 7033. Arhoolie Records has sound samples of all the songs on that album. Here is a bit more: [HUSBAND:] One night I came home to my Kitty After traveling the whole world around. Subject: LYR REQ:One Night I Came Home To My Kitty From: Rosie Date: 18 Feb 98 - 10:06 PM Has anyone else ever heard this song titled as such or under another title? I've searched the DT database with no luck. I'm assuming it's an Irish American tune as it was recorded in 1930 by Irish/Amer singer Frank Quinn. Partial lyrics I have go like this: One night I came home to my Kitty after traveling the wide world around//Strong ale made me jovial and witty I carelessly sat myself down//I put my hand into my pocket and gave her my money to count//But Kitty indeed was no blockhead and she quickly told me the amount// (Rest of song is back and forth conversation between "dear husband/dear wife") Thanks to you all, Rosie |
