Hi Guys

Thanks for the responses. I'm not convinced it was Rosie, but I've emailed her just in case. I'll keep you posted...

She was a real character. I still listen to "Firebird".. it is a superb LP.
She used to spend time at our house when she was touring in this area and gave my son hours of pleasure by making origami figure for him.

Yep Nutty that's who I was going to suggest too. I know that I also met her up around the Birmingham/Warwickshire area, and I believe that's where she came from.

If she was a large lady, with a large voice, I would suggest Rosemary(Rosie)Hardman, she spent a great deal of her time writing love songs

Welcome to the Mudcat, Quiet Fingers. I don't have a clue/clew, but I'll post to refresh this and see if someone wakes up over there and recalls who you are remembering.**BG**

All the best,

kat

Okay guys, this one is really hard. One of the first folk clubs I ever visited was held at The Royal Oak pub in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, in England circa 1970.

I distinctly remember a lady singer/guitarist playing one of her own songs. The chorus went something like:

"Words like I love you and I'm thinking of you and Words I could never dah dah dah..."

Someone other than me must rememeber it. Who was she, where is she now and what are the full lyrics.

Told you it was a tough one...I'm off to play some Bert Jansch or maybe something traditional while you get your thinking caps on.

PS. I'm new to Mudcat, which is a great site. My chosen name comes from a line in song written by a mate of mine many years ago..."The man with the quiet fingers is playing softly again". I always did play quietly...
