Subject: More on/Moron Open Tunings From: GUEST,Chicken Charlie Date: 15 Dec 01 - 05:29 PM Holed up at home last week with an illness I got tired of masochistically working with different instruments and went back to the guitar on which I started too many years ago. I have a Yamaha (resurrected from a dumpster) that I keep tuned in open G, which is DGDGBD the way I do it. It occurred to me that I could change that to G9 (DGDGCD) or to G13 by raising one of the lower D's to an E (or the top one, but that throws all the melodies off. Especially with the ninth tuning, I love the built-in jazzness of the whole thing. Before anybody asks me what other chords are, I don't know, I'm having fun just sort of 'frailing.' There's a free idea for the day. CC |
