Stuart Adamson who was lead singer of the 1980's group "Big Country" has been found dead in a hotel room in Hawaii. He was aged 43. Adamson who was born in Manchester, grew up in Scotland and formed the group "The Skids" in the 1970s with singer Richard Jobson. They had success with the singles "Into the Valley"; "Masquerade" and "Working for the Yankee Dollar." After the group split, he founded the group "Big Country" in 1981 and hits included, "Fields of Fire" and "East of Eden." Their 1983 debut album in the US was "The Crossing." In the 1980s their total record sales exceeded 10 million. The group played at the 1985 Live Aid Concert in Wembley.
In 2000 the group broke up and Adamson went on to form another group "The Raphaels." According to news reports he had been missing for some time and his death is alleged to be suicide.
