Subject: RE: WFDU CHRISTMAS SPECIAL - THIS SUNDAY From: kytrad (Jean Ritchie) Date: 24 Dec 01 - 05:34 PM Ron- I'm devastated! Lots of company "dropped in" at the wrong times on Sunday, and I couldn't hear anything...I managed to catch the last half-hour, but missed the Mudcatters' part. Hope there's some way I can still get to hear it. Happy Christmas, All! Jean |

Subject: RE: WFDU CHRISTMAS SPECIAL - THIS SUNDAY From: katlaughing Date: 23 Dec 01 - 02:32 PM Coming in really well, pre-show. It does take a few clicks to get to the live audio. If you click on the ON AIR button, that takes you to a site where you have to put in WFDU and hit the search button, then click on the live feed. You'll hear an ad for ITT and THEN the DJ will come on with the current show. |

Subject: RE: WFDU CHRISTMAS SPECIAL - THIS SUNDAY From: WFDU - Ron Olesko Date: 22 Dec 01 - 11:30 AM WFDU-FM's studios are located in Teaneck, NJ - about 8 miles from New York City. (If you stand on our roof you can see the NYC skyline!). We broadcast to the NYC metro area from a tower in Alpine, NJ. A history note - our tower is known as the Armstrong Tower, it is the tower where Edwin Howard Armstrong had a lab where he worked on developing FM radio, and the tower is where the first FM broadcast and radio station was launched. We are very proud to be continuing the broadcast tradition from that site. After Sept.11 the tower was in the news again when television stations WNBC, WABC, WPIX, and WNET had to re-locate their transmitters to the site after their transmitters were destroyed with the World Trade Center. If you go to our webpage, click on the link at the bottom of the homepage you can read more about this. Ron Olesko |

Subject: RE: WFDU CHRISTMAS SPECIAL - THIS SUNDAY From: WFDU - Ron Olesko Date: 22 Dec 01 - 01:29 AM Help! Does anyone have the credits for the Folk Legacy recording of "Twas On A Night Like This"? I am going to play "Mary Had A Baby" on the program and I can't find the booklet that came with the CD. I'd like to give everyone who played on that cut a credit. I've sent a note to Sandy Paton but I'm not sure if he is going to be checking his mail before my show airs. If anyone has the credits and could post it hear it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Ron |

Subject: RE: WFDU CHRISTMAS SPECIAL - THIS SUNDAY From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 21 Dec 01 - 10:11 PM Yeah, it's been too long, Ron.. The concert I was plugging was at the West End Bar in New York City, across from Columbia University. It was a strange experience for me going back there, because I used to eat there when I had any money, when I was supposedly going to Columbia University, but spending most of my time and the little money I had listening to folk music in Greenwich Village. I will keep in touch... my e-mail address is gospelmessengers@msn.com. The name of my gospel quartet. We do old black gospel.. the kind that Dicho is always posting.. Jerry |

Subject: RE: WFDU CHRISTMAS SPECIAL - THIS SUNDAY From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 21 Dec 01 - 08:08 PM WFDU, Jean and George: Good memories, and a wonderful Christmas to all! I'll see if I can get you on my Atwater Kent. Many years ago, I ventured down to WFDU to do a live spot, plugging a concert I was doing in New York City... a beautiful campus and well worth the trip. I listened to the station as a regular, but since moving up here to Derby, CT, I don't think I can get it... but I'll try. And hello, Jean and George... I remember booking Jean for a wonderful concert at the Stamford Museum many years ago. A very special treat for me, as I've always loved her music. It's a special treat to re-connect, even through the ehter zone, with people you haven't seen or talked to in years.. Jerry |

Subject: WFDU CHRISTMAS SPECIAL - THIS SUNDAY From: Ron Olesko Date: 21 Dec 01 - 05:02 PM Just a reminder - The 21st Annual TRADITIONS Christmas Special will air this Sunday December 23 from 3pm to 6pm Eastern Time. In the Northern New Jersey/New York City area you can set your radio dial to 89.1FM. On the internet will be streaming audio through our website at www.wfdu.fm. The program will feature traditional (and contemporary folk) holiday fare featuring artists like the Weavers, Pete Seeger, Odetta, Nowell Sing We Clear, Jean Ritchie, Artisan, Bridget Ball & Christopher Shaw, Telynor, the Christmas Revels, and many others. You will hear some really beautiful holiday music, plus we will talk about the stories and folklore behind the songs and celebration. As a special treat, a number of Mudcatter's will be heard and I will be passing on holiday greetings. I want to thank everyone who participated - it is really nice!! A number of folks took the time to record greetings, songs, stories, and poems. A few people sent me CD's. While I hope that everyone will tune in for the full three hours, the Mudcatter section will air sometime between 4 and 5pm. I had hoped to have the entire three hours pre-recorded and available on Mudcat by now, but some production and personal issues have delayed it. Rest assured the program will air this Sunday - and I will record it for posterity. Happy holidays everyone. I hope you will join in. Bring your own egg nog!!! best, Ron Olesko Producer/Host WFDU-FM's TRADITIONS
