Subject: RE: Lyrics site From: Jim Dixon Date: 01 Feb 02 - 12:38 PM I'd love to help, but I need to know more about where you're starting out from. Have you ever used Google before? Are you comfortable using it? Do you know what I mean by a URL? Do you know how to copy and paste a URL into your web browser? By the way, I need to log off soon. I'll come back and look for this thread later today. |
Subject: RE: Lyrics site From: JudeL Date: 01 Feb 02 - 11:59 AM Sorry to display my luddite tendencies quite so blatently but HELP Jim can you put that into English as I'd like to try that site but keep coming up with the "you are not authorised stuff" and I just don't do this technology thing (that's what teenage sons are for!) Subject: RE: Lyrics site From: Jim Dixon Date: 01 Feb 02 - 11:42 AM I couldn't navigate through this site either. I kept getting the message, "You are not authorized to view this page." However I was able to search it using Google's Advanced Search function. You can use their fill-in-the-blanks form (click the previous link) or you can search by using this URL: http://www.google.com/search?as_q=CHORUS&as_sitesearch=WWW.HAVEN.ORG In this case WWW.HAVEN.ORG was the site I wanted to search and CHORUS was the word I was searching for. (The words don't have to be in caps.) This technique works with almost any web site. Also, when the Results page came up, I had to click on "Cached" to see the page. Otherwise I got the same old "You are not authorized to view this page" message! |
Subject: RE: Lyrics site From: Haruo Date: 12 Jan 02 - 11:56 PM I don't think www.haven.org has anything to do with the New Haven public schools. Hard to say what it does have to do with, since most of the links on its homepage go to a generic "Sorry, the Guild Charter is not up yet. Check back." sort of notice. However, the name of the place is clearly "Haven Writer's Guild", and there are email links to a Webmistress, a Guildmaster, and a Guild Second. But it's a wonderful list of TXTs. Thank you Jeri for pointing me back here. Liland |

Subject: RE: Lyrics site From: Dicho (Frank Staplin) Date: 11 Jan 02 - 11:31 AM On the list, Grazing Mace is a good parody of Amazing Grace. |
Subject: RE: Lyrics site From: Aidan Crossey Date: 11 Jan 02 - 05:00 AM Here's another one I've stumbled across. I've also started a new thread to highlight it ... |
Subject: RE: Lyrics site From: Anglo Date: 11 Jan 02 - 04:36 AM My guess it's a SCA site. Lots of songs - some filk I think. No sources. |
Subject: RE: Lyrics site From: Deckman Date: 11 Jan 02 - 04:19 AM This is a very good collection ... thanks for your time and effort to post it! CHEERS, Bob |
Subject: RE: Lyrics site From: Aidan Crossey Date: 11 Jan 02 - 03:46 AM Oh .. and by the way ... the main site of which this is a subsidiary belongs to Haven Writers' Guild. There are resources on the site which seem to be accessible to members only. This may be one of them on which security isn't sufficiently tight. Probably best that we don't go making too many enquiries. While the link above works, let's use it!!! |
Subject: RE: Lyrics site From: Aidan Crossey Date: 11 Jan 02 - 03:41 AM Gern ... On my 56K home conmnection it takes a while for the page to load ... connecting via my work's ISDN connection and it's up in a flash. Stick with it ... don't move off ... the end result is worth it!! |
Subject: RE: Lyrics site From: Dicho (Frank Staplin) Date: 10 Jan 02 - 05:34 PM I would guess someone connected with the school system in New Haven (haven.org). We should get an answer from someone. |

Subject: RE: Lyrics site From: gnomad Date: 10 Jan 02 - 04:34 PM Works for me OK, astonishing...How does one "stumble" on something like this? |
Subject: RE: Lyrics site From: GUEST,Gern Date: 10 Jan 02 - 04:21 PM I'm interested, but I can't get this site to come up. Perhaps some sort of cyber-viagra is needed here? |
Subject: Lyrics site From: Aidan Crossey Date: 10 Jan 02 - 10:32 AM I stumbled across this site ... it's not listed per se in any search engine ... perhaps it's the owner's personal on-line songbook. Never mind ... here it is. www.haven.org/~dkap/music/words/
