There is a songbook for "A Mighty Wind" too ... we used "A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow" for our contribution to our wedding ceilidh, although I'm not sure a lot of the guests realised it was intentionally sickly sweet!

I just ran across this old request from 1998, and was surprised to learn that some of the songs used in the 2003 film "A Mighty Wind" were much older than the film. In fact, there's a web site called SNL Transcripts that confirms that this songs was performed back in 1984!

Would anyone happened to have saved or remembered this; must have been about the mid-80's there was one night on Saturday Night Live a hilarious skit about the Folksmen, a parody of groups like the Kingston Trio, the Limeliters, etc., having a reunion concert. It was Christopher Guest and the other guys that later made the heavy metal parody Spinal Tap. The skit showed them rehearsing a song that went "Blood on the tracks, Blood in the mine, Brothers and sisters what a terrible time, Old 97 went in the wrong hole, now in mine number 60 there's blood on the coal..." Then they did a whole song as a performance on stage called "Old Joe's Place" about a friendly hangout of the same name where there's a "puppy in the parlor and skillet on the stove and a smelly old blanket that a Navajo wove...there's always something cooking at Old Joe's Place". I'd love to find the lyrics for Old Joe's Place. Sure would appreciate it.
