It might be alright to sing at a singsong, but not at a traditional music gathering. Tommy Makem does not compose in the traditional music idiom despite the wealth his mother Sarah passed on to him. I wonder sometimes has he sold out to commercialism and a touch of the Paddywhackery.

Thanks to you all for your help. I listened to the sound clip and I think it's a good song to sing at a singalong. I'll try to work it out from this clip. Thanks again.

Kees

Should have been: That Land I Love So Well.

(Always a nuisance: htm/html/shtml...)

It may help to cite the lyric; it can be seen at makem.com:  That Land I love So Well Words and music by Tommy Makem, 1971, according to the information given.

The tune to Town I Loved is at the DT Mirror site, Click here, if that is indeed the correct song.

Do you perhaps mean The Town I Loved So Well by Phil Coulter?

If so I'm sure it's possible to find it for you. Never heard of the title you gave though, sorry.

I am looking for the tune to the song "The Land I Loved So Well" by Tommy Makem. It is said to be on an old LP by him with the Clancy's. Is there anyone who can help me to the music (MP3 perhaps). I do have the words. Thanks in advance.

Shanty Kees
