Hmmmm. Sounds just like "Shopping Cart of Love," by Christine Lavin. It's on her CD called "Attainable Love," Philo 1132. Christine mostly does some really funny stuff, but then she'll surprise you and do something very moving. Here are some of her lyrics, and here is her Web site. Hope that helps.

Awhile back I was travelling in my car when I heard a fragment of the GREATEST folk song I had ever heard.

Unfortunately, I don't know the name of it, that's where you get to help.

It sounded as to be a more recent song. It was sung by a female. It spoke of losing her job, apartment, and boyfriend -all in one day. She went to the supermarket, and had too many items for the express lane, and was refused service. A guy behind her said that he only had 7 items and he would take 2 of hers. She ended up going to dinner with this guy. It was a wonderful song, and I would love to buy the CD, so, If you could help me find it, I would be eternally yours. Cory [e-mail]
