Thin, dark hair and mustache yes (actually he had a beard too, when I met him), but he's kind of short. His lovely wife's name is Mary. He's about fifty. He does sing a lot of corny American stuff, but that's because the audience demands it. I almost got thrown out for singing Mattie Groves and the people in the pub wanted to hear "Ghost Riders in the Sky" and the theme from Rawhide.

OMG! I got to hear Brian sing one night at the King Arthur Pub, and and in fact hung out with him and some of his friends at their place until the wee hours. Nice folks (despite the liking forxcorny American folk music). I might make it back there this summer. There is a great band who hails from there called Dragons Fly, and if you can find one of their CDs, get it!!!! Renaissance instruments and styling; haunting stuff.

Peg

I was in Glastonbury in '86 and really enjoyed the Music festival. I know its probably not the days you are going, and it took 3 days when I was there but can anyone locally tell me if this still goes on?

Well, I envy them because I went to Glastonbury last May and I'm dying to go back - and I will sooner rather than later. There are lots of places with live music there but I didn't find much with folk or trad. There's an excellent pub called the King Arthur that has a singer on Wednesday nights - his name is Brian. (It's just a couple of blocks from the cross at the center of town.) The audience demands a lot of John Denver, Country/Western, etc. but he does traditional songs too if he is asked. Hope your friends enjoy the trip! I enjoyed the cider (Scrumpy, or something like that, I think it's called!) and the Somerset Cream Teas!

Two friends of mine are going to Glastonbury, England for the first time next weekend and wondered if any 'catters new of good music to be heard in the area. Any advice gratefully received. Thanks in advance.
