Subject: RE: Newfoundland Music Camp From: CarolC Date: 09 Apr 02 - 03:02 AM Thanks Vinland. I've checked out your site. It looks like a great camp. This year probably won't be possible for me, but I'll definitely keep it in mind as something to possibly dream about for the following year. |
Subject: RE: Newfoundland Music Camp From: Vinland Date: 03 Apr 02 - 11:37 AM Oops, could have sworn I included a web link! Thanks a million, guest Bardford. Still learning the blue clicky thing. No racists allowed in this camp, you'll be happy to know! CarolC - we'll have keyboard players on board; I'm sure you'd learn a tune or two...and paddle a canoe, too.

Subject: Newfoundland Music Camp From: Vinland Date: 02 Apr 02 - 09:11 PM There's a new traditional music camp in Newfoundland this summer. It takes place August 25-31, 2002 in beautiful Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland, Canada. It's for musicians of all ages (8 yrs.+) and levels. Students will develop their performance skills, learn the history of Newfoundland and Labrador music, and have a lot of fun playing it. There will be group and private instruction in fiddle, button accordion, tin whistle, mandolin, guitar, and traditional singing. There are also workshops in harp, keyboard, and folk dancing. Vinland Music Camp is a great way to learn some songs & tunes, enjoy the outdoors, and experience a beautiful part of Newfoundland. And it's very cheap - especially for Americans (take note CarolC !) given the present exchange rate. This year's principal instructors will be Jean Hewson and Christina Smith, Daniel Payne, and Eric West.
For more information, visit our web site
By the way, Vinland Music also publishes Newfoundland & Labrador songbooks, including those of Buddy Wasisname and the other Fellers. If you're looking for the lyrics or music for a Nfld. song, we can usually track it down!
