Subject: RE: Hamsters in Hull From: HuwG Date: 14 Oct 02 - 09:12 AM Damn ! Missed this thread until too late. They played at the Town Hall in Glossop on Saturday night, at a gig organised by The Lift Global Music Club, your correspondent helped get their gear upstairs in an extremely wonky lift. Excellent gig, lots of punch from the word go, excellent time had by all. I particularly liked some of the guitars on display, especially a battered-looking SG with zebra stripes; the sound from it was quite something. |

Subject: RE: Hamsters in Hull From: Rt Revd Sir jOhn from Hull Date: 10 Apr 02 - 09:25 PM Hi Geoff, I went to Leeds Irish Centre once (big building on the left), it took me ages to get home as I got stuck in the stupid one way system, and ended up driving round the Leeds ring road a few times until I spotted the right exit road! |

Subject: RE: Hamsters in Hull From: Geoff the Duck Date: 05 Apr 02 - 06:49 AM The Hamsters used to play Leeds quite often at the Irish Centre on the York road. They are definitely a band worth seeing, and do a lot of Jimi Hendrix stuff. Their T-shirts are also pretty entertaining. Quack! |

Subject: Hamsters in Hull From: Rt Revd Sir jOhn from Hull Date: 05 Apr 02 - 06:14 AM From The Hull Daily Mail= The Hamsters have been together for 15 years, and recently played their 3,000th gig. Billed as the UK's premier blues/rock performers, The Hamsters are now set to perform at The Springhead Pub, Aston Road for the first time. The band originally got its name from the Sex Pistols, who used it as a pseudonym. Now its members say they enjoy the irony of being an aggresive band with a cuddly name. Respected across the UK, The Hamsters count former world champion Formula One driver Damon Hill amongst their fans.Members of the band, widely regarded as the leading interpreters of the music of Jim Hendrix, have performed with artists such as Eric Clapton,Doctor Feelgood, Walter Trout and British blues phenomenon Alexis Korner. Early in 1995, the band released Route 666, wich entered the NME chart at number 7.And The Hamsters' new live album They Live By Night was released in January. It features 15 tracks,11 of which have never been recorded by the band before, including new material. Having toured the USA and performing at three sell-out Jimi Hendrix festivals in Holland, they're now concentrating on Europe. They can be seen at the Springhead Pub on Friday, April the 12th. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .I have seen this band, they are really good, the Springhead pub is the best music pub in the UK.look at their website=www.springheadpub.co.uk |
