Subject: RE: Tune Req: Soul Man trumpet help From: lady penelope Date: 05 Apr 02 - 09:03 PM If it's any help it's almost exactly the same horn arrangement used for Roxy Music's "Get together". It may sound weird 'cos I don't think either group used trombones particularly. The whole thing should sound a bit sharp. Dare I say it, almost 'mariachi' ( and I know I didn't spell that right ). The whole thing does hang on the arrangement though, it's hard to tell without a score. ( This sort of thing being the one thing I liked to play when I played trumpet, not neccesarily very well ) TTFN M'Lady P. |

Subject: Soul Man trumpet help From: GUEST,ZP Date: 05 Apr 02 - 08:41 PM My fraternity group is playing "Soul Man" for a contest, and we're having a little problem. The guitar and bass people are getting their parts to line up with the Sam and Dave version, but myself (alto sax) and the trombone and trumpet parts are having a tough time getting our parts to sound right, especially after the soul man chorus. We have a different arrangement, but it sounds off. Any horn people out there can help us with the notes, or know where the best place to look would be? thanks ZP |
