Subject: RE: Lyr Req: One More Pull, Boys From: Crane Driver Date: 02 May 02 - 08:33 PM I believe this (One More Pull, Boys) is the song that Ian Woods and Ken Stephenson both wrote separately - they worked out the tune & chorus together, then went off and each wrote a totally different set of verses. So there's two versions. We (Baggyrinkle) do one of them, I think it's Ken's words. Catch us at Hull this summer, and ask Billy to give you one more pull. You should get a reputation quite quickly. Subject: RE: Lyr Req: One More Pull, Boys From: GUEST,MCP Date: 02 May 02 - 07:55 AM Dead Horse - I should have mentioned that it's better to put requests for different songs in separate threads so that people get to see them all. Mick |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: One More Pull, Boys From: GUEST,MCP, Lyric Add (separate thread) Date: 02 May 02 - 07:51 AM The miner for lead song you want is called The Census and the miner's name is actually William Gill. I've posted the words in a separate thread Lyric Add: The Census. If the One More Pull song is the Ian Woods' one (One more pull boys, that'll do boys..) there was a thread about it recently Lyric Req:One More Pull. No words there, but a link to a recording of the chorus, and IIRC the original post was from someone who'd recorded it, so you could probably get the words there. Mick |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: One More Pull, Boys From: Dead Horse Date: 02 May 02 - 05:02 AM Thanks Paul, that was bloody fast!!! But no luck, I'm afraid. Song about "miner for lead" goes something like
"Name, William Hill, Occupation, a miner for lead. As I said, it's in reply to a census form, British, possibly north-midlands area. Not sure of name of miner, just that he is struggling on with several kids after his wife died, and how the eldest looks after the others etc. |

Subject: One More Pull, Boys From: Dead Horse Date: 02 May 02 - 04:41 AM Not only above, but also song about a "miner for lead" replying to census form? Searched database and www. Zilch! It would end my constant torment and relieve me of incessant agonies if only some kind soul could point me in the right direction with one of those "Oh so easy to do blueclickythings" that I will master one day, if only I could follow the instructions. |
