"Does anyone else live in an area where the Department of Motor Vehicles/Motor Vehicle Administration is thoroughly incompetent, uncaring, and downright dangerous?"

Does anyone not ?

You wouldn't believe the crap I just went through with my property taxes because it's the same bunch that take payment for MV, property, etc. One collection "branch" called Service New Brunswick.... more like Servicing New Brunswick... up the a**.

Does anyone else live in an area where the Department of Motor Vehicles/Motor Vehicle Administration is thoroughly incompetent, uncaring, and downright dangerous?

I have been through *hell* in the last couple of years, trying to get the Maryland (USA) MVA to get off my back for an issue I have proven to them that they are mistaken about on more than 6 occasions. And now, after a spell of several months, wherein I was lulled into a false sense of security, I find out that they have sent the issue to a collection agency!

They claim that one of my vehicles was not covered by insurance for one single month between January and February of 2001. They have requested an "FR19" form more times than I can count, and each and every time, I have had my insurance carrier send one of the blinking things to them, and one to me...then, after that, *I* have given a copy of the one I get to the MVA as well, just to be sure.

But, that's not the worst part...these people have sent me a collection notice for, get this:

$1,581.96!!!

For a single month of missing insurance coverage (which never happened). When I called the MVA, they said that it should be $165.00. But that doesn't seem to matter...the collection agency wants their $1,581.96 anyway.

Any advice here????
