Subject: RE: On the Road from ME to MI in June From: Charley Noble Date: 16 Jun 02 - 12:13 PM Radical revision of travel route. Folks at the Michigan end are reporting waits up to 8 hours at the Sarnia/Port Huron border crossing on weekends. Guess I'll take the Ohio route, brush by Cleveland and on up though lovely Toledo. Off and running on Thursday and the weather looks super. Cheerily, Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: On the Road from ME to MI in June From: Charley Noble Date: 03 Jun 02 - 03:25 PM Cheryl- as an old hand at this trek I'll certainly be coming through Sarnia/Port Huron. It's considerably shorter and much less customs hassle than Windsor/Detroit, or at least it used to be. Cheerily, Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: On the Road from ME to MI in June From: GUEST,Cheryl Date: 03 Jun 02 - 03:07 PM Sorry I'm too far south (Detroit) for ya; won't you be coming across the Blue Water Bridge at Sarnia? It's a straight shot to Lansing on 69 from there. Your plea reminds me of the time my husband and I ran out of gas early one Sunday morning outside of Hamilton on a run from NY to MI. Didn't quite know what to do until a gruff old Scot picked us up, took us to the only open station for miles, and returned us to our car. When we offered him some money for his trouble, he shook his head and muttered, "It's me Christian duty." I can hear that rolled "R" to this day. Hope you find a Christian -- now I'm off to the Red Wings thread to gloat! |

Subject: RE: On the Road from ME to MI in June From: Charley Noble Date: 03 Jun 02 - 10:12 AM Windsor might be possible Thursday evening if my van had warp drive. More likely, I'll be in the Hamilton, Ontario, area about that time. Cheerily, Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: On the Road from ME to MI in June From: Devilmaster Date: 02 Jun 02 - 10:00 PM Well, its not an open session, but Clinton Hammond is playing The Kildare House on that Thursday. And it also happens to be the time around the International Freedom Festival. The banner says June 26, but I believe it actually starts the weekend before. The address for the Kildare (with availability of a map) is here. More info about Clinton's gigs can be found at his webpage Sword4Hire No matter what you do, have fun in Ontario and Michigan. Subject: RE: On the Road from ME to MI in June From: Charley Noble Date: 02 Jun 02 - 02:42 PM Well, I've got a base camp established to stay in on the Red Cedar River in East Lansing. That should do nicely from Friday evening to Monday morning (6/21 to 6/24). Still be nice to stop over somewhere in Ontario on the way out and somewhere in upstate New York on the way back. Subject: RE: On the Road from ME to MI in June From: Charley Noble Date: 29 May 02 - 08:40 PM Grrrr! Thanks, Mary. Where are them Mudcatters in Ontario? Well, I can always sleep in the back of the van in some friendly farmer's field. |

Subject: RE: On the Road from ME to MI in June From: SINSULL Date: 29 May 02 - 08:31 PM Charley, If the 20 minute drive out of Portland is too much for you, I have a spare bedroom. Enjoy the trek! |

Subject: RE: On the Road from ME to MI in June From: GUEST,Charley Noble Date: 28 May 02 - 10:41 PM Someone stole my cookie! Now that's a thought: I could be taking orders and delivering them as I travel back and forth. Maybe I'll use the official Roll & Go credit card while I'm at it. Anyone want some nice fresh lobsters? No, foget that; they'd never make it through customs. Cheerily, Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: On the Road from ME to MI in June From: Big Mick Date: 28 May 02 - 09:18 AM Yeah, Charley, that is the one. I have been brain dead for about two weeks. I have misquoted the name several times. It is "The International Travellers Club and Tuba Museum". Same joint. I love their menu. I hope we can figure out a way to hook up, but it may not be possible this time. Let's keep in touch on it. Mick |

Subject: RE: On the Road from ME to MI in June From: Charley Noble Date: 28 May 02 - 08:29 AM Big Mick- The International Tuba Club & Museum? Is that what we used to know as the Traveler's Club in Okemos? Hmmmm. Given that I'm leaving ME on Thursday, 6/20, and heading back from MI on Monday, 6/24, it might be hard for us to connect for more than breakfast. Friday evening and Sunday are my best free times in Michigan. Saturday's the wedding celebration, mostly celebration given that the marriage part has already been formalized. South of Elmira? When I could be sacking out in Utica, Herkimer, Amsterdam or greater Schenectedy. Hamilton/Burlington, Ontario, would be a nice place to stop on my way out to Michigan on Thursday evening, some place with a view of the petroleum refinery, perhaps. Cheerily, Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: On the Road from ME to MI in June From: Big Mick Date: 27 May 02 - 10:35 PM Done deal, Charley. I have to head to Detroit area for that weekend, but I am thinking either Thursday or Monday. In fact, Monday might be the time as there is a session in a local establishment. Sounds like a hooley to me. And we must do lunch at the International Tuba Club and Museum. Can't wait to see you, Chas. Mick |

Subject: On the Road from ME to MI in June From: Charley Noble Date: 27 May 02 - 08:14 PM I'm planning a revisit of Michigan from Maine (and back again) from 6/20 to 6/25. One of my long-time music friends in Lansing is getting married and I haven't been back there for almost 10 years. I'll be looking for a place to stop in So. Ontario on the way out and one around Albany, NY, on the way back; I'm usually good for about 12 hours in the van, but a place to stay over with gracious Mudcats would be appreciated; I am litterbox trained but will be armed with a 5-string banjo, assuming it's not confiscated at the border. I'll also be out in the Lansing area long enough for a major music party if one could be organized by local Mudcats, apart from the one associated with the wedding celebration. And of course I'll stop at Elderly Instruments and droll over their collection of goodies. Cheerily, Charlie Noble |
