Hi All,

It was about two years ago, June 5, 2000, that Big Mick wrote "Big Mick Needs Good Thoughts & Prayers" for his friends Jimmy and Darla.

http://www.mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=22143#238591

I was amazed by the power of the thoughts in response to the post that I wrote lyrics that night which I'll post here. I wrote it as a bluegrass ditty, but it came out as kind of a Travis Styled tune. I've since recorded it and have been in contact with Big Mick and made sure he got a copy of it.

The tune itself is really a favorite of mine ... so much so that I made it the last song on my disc. Anyway, I just wanted to make the lyrics available to all those that put their thoughts here.

Jimmy and Darla
(JT Sunden)

Jimmy he met his Darla
And Darla treated Jimmy right
Dancin' over in the corner
Darla was quite a sight
Jimmy would grab his guitar
And look at her and say
The next one goes to Darla
My name is Jimmy and I'm gonna play

Chorus

And he'd sing hey little girl won't you dance with me?
I'll dance you on down the line
But Jimmy had to keep on playing
Cause Darla liked to dance all night.

Jimmy could tell some stories
And Darla would laugh and say
Jimmy don't tell another
I want to hear you play again
So Mick just started laughing
He knew what was coming next
"This next one goes to Darla
My name is Jimmy and I'm gonna play."

Bridge

And he'd play hard and fast and slow and sweet
And sometimes make her cry
But the one thing Jimmy never did
Was ever, ever say goodbye

Chorus

And he'd sing hey little girl won't you dance with me
I'll dance you on down the line
But Jimmy had to keep on playing
Cause Darla liked to dance all night

Well Jimmy he was a mailman
He'd carry that bag all day
Then he'd run home to Darla
She'd say "Jimmy are you gonna play?"
So Jimmy would grab his guitar
And sit down before they ate
"This next one goes to Darla
My name is Jimmy and I'm gonna play"

Chorus

And he'd sing hey little girl won't you dance with me?
I'll dance you on down the line
But Jimmy had to keep on playing
Cause Darla liked to dance all night

Well Jimmy he told some stories
And Darla laughed and then
Said "Honey, don't tell another
I want to hear you play again."
But Jimmy never played with tears before
So Darla grabbed his hand and said
"Mick play this for Jimmy
Cause Jimmy's gonna hold my hand."

bridge

And he played hard and fast and slow and sweet
And oh how Jimmy cried
But the one thing Jimmy never did
Was ever, ever say goodbye

Chorus

Still he sang "Hey little girl won't you dance with me?
I'll dance you on down the line
So everybody keep on playing
Cause Darla liked to dance all night
Yeah everybody keep on playing
Cause Darla liked to dance all night.
