Subject: RE: The Guthries/UK tour From: Joan from Wigan Date: 22 Jun 02 - 12:24 PM That is a valid website address, but is heavily under construction with no clue as to who it belongs to. But try The Guthries. Their UK tour runs from June 25 to July 14 and seems to encompass the length and breadth of England, as well as three Scottish gigs. Joan |

Subject: The Guthries/UK tour From: GUEST,Pixie Date: 21 Jun 02 - 10:23 PM For all the Mudcatters in the UK and Wales, an original and unusual band called The Guthries is heading your way on Sunday, June 23. They are doing 18 gigs in 20 days. This group has a sort of revivalist approach to country funk (hey, I'm no reviewer) unusual lyrics and voices and an ability to captivate in a bizzaare (sp??) way. The band consists of a few guys and a girl and they are not acoustic in the pure sense of the word, but there is a heavy emphasis on acoustic sounds. Their influences are eclectic, but make no mistake, this band has their own sound, and its worth a listen. Music runs in the family (Ann Murray is the aunt of two of the band members) and the drummer has his own appeal..... if you're into that superficial stuff....... They have a website which I would suspect is www.theguthries.com but I can't be sure Pixie |
