I'm fairly certain that they write the desk/cubicle assembly instructions knowing full well that no one will read them in the first place. The most critical tip for any assembly is not to lay the screws on the carpet or within reach of small children as they will either sink through the knap and the pad, never to be seen again. A small child will be irresistably drawn, as if by a gravitational force, from the far end of the house, to any carefully laid out fasteners and somehow manage to fling them all across a room, front porch, yard or haystack. If you can keep your parts in one place undisturbed, a grown human being can reassemble or install nearly anything;~)
No fear with the cone replacement though. It's really a lot easier than I thought it would be and rings better than it ever did before. All you need is a phillips screwdriver, a small drill and a pencil with the lead broken off. I don't know that I'd do it to a 1938 National, but if I had one of those there'd be no need to make it sound better;~)

You're much braver than I am Tweed!
Having said that, your explanation of the proceedure is excellent. Have you ever considered a career in the flat-pack furniture industry? There's certainly a gap in the "clear/concise assembly instruction" market.

I recently (yesterday) got a couple sample reso cones from a friend in Tasmania, who is spinning his own, and performed surgery on my Regal today, took some pics and made a page of it for any of you resonator guitar people out there. First time for me with a cone swap but it's very easy to do I found out and the new cone gives much better sound than the one I had in there before. Here's a clicky to the page.
