And there's "twirly": a bus-pass holder who tries to board a bus before the start of the free travel period: "Yo'm [sic] twearly [sic] aer [sic] kid!"

In Canada the term "toofer" is used to mean " A case of beer"

24 bottles...

"A 2-4"

Which get's shortened to a "toofer"

Example of use...

"What's the plan for the weekend?"

"Gonna hit the beer store for a couple of toofers and meet some chummers at the beach."

I love cigerati (don't see why it should have two T's though -- literati doesn't).

Wired magazine publishes a list of new slang every month or so. Some recent terms of value:

Brain Fart
A byproduct of a bloated mind producing information effortlessly. A burst of useful information. "I know you're busy on the Microsoft story, but could you give us a brain fart on the Mitnik bust?" Variation of old hacker slang that had more negative connotations.

Cobweb Site
A World Wide Web site that hasn't been updated for a long time. A dead Web page.

Clickstreams
The paths a user takes as he or she navigates cyberspace. Advertisers and online media providers are developing software that can accurately track users' clickstreams.

Permalancer
A permanent freelancer. A person hired on a per-project basis who lives a benefits-free existence.

Irritainment
Annoying entertainment and media spectacles you're unable to stop watching. O.J. is a prime example.

It's a Feature
From the adage "It's not a bug, it's a feature." Used sarcastically to describe an unpleasant experience that you wish to gloss over.

Keyboard Plaque
The disgusting buildup of dirt and crud found on computer keyboards. "Are there any other terminals I can use? This one has a bad case of keyboard plaque."

Velveeta
A Usenet posting, often commercial in nature, excessively cross-posted to a large number of newsgroups. Similar to Spam, although that term is often used to describe an identical post that's been loaded onto lots of inappropriate newsgroups, one group at a time (rather than cross-posted).

"Toofer" is also used to describe an employee who counts towards two quotas for employing minority groups - (gender/ethnic/religious/disbality etc). Again the meaning is 'two for the price of one'.

Human Resources Departments are very keen on finding toofers - or even threefers and fourfers!

Heard this on the BBC the other day: they had a competiton to find names for things that don't have names but ought to. One (two!) of the winners was for those people you see standing around smoking outside lobbies and fire exits with cigarettes because they're no longer allowed to smoke inside. "Snoutcast" is an excellent new UK English word, which I feel deserves to be promoted; I shall use it at every opportunity. On the other hand, "snout" just means a pig's nose in the US (it's UK prison slang for "tobacco", btw), so the US comp came up with "cigarati". Not bad, but doesn't have the je ne sais quoi to my mind. (I resisted the temptation to say "close, but no ...")

Come on, it's a living language: spread the word(s)!
