It would certainly be nice to come over to Uppermill and join the wake for Mary and Arthur. Will they be doing the hot beef butties? I think Navy Cut might give us the night off from practicing prior to recording on the Sunday and, as long as the voice isn't pressed too hard, I could possibly come over! I'll try my best but it isn't a promise! Have fun if I don't make it and save a cuddle for me at Banbury(?)!

Won't be able to get to Saddleworth because we'll be heavily involved with Extravaganza 3 at the Open Door. As John mentioned Martin Carthy is on there on Sunday along with Buz Collins and Roam. Anyone that stays over and they're not too whacked - - it'll be great to see you. The clubs at the Bull's Head, Oldham Road, Failsworth.

Ned Ludd -Shellbacks definitely coming are Theresa and Bill (with the "Jacksons" port!!), and Ian, Sue and Hannah so far - Ali and Steve are going to try to get over.

Pat, I'll bring the photos with me if you're coming over -it'll be lovely to see you again.

All the beds have gone in our house (as usual!) but there's floor space for anyone with air beds - i do a good cooked breakfast!

Didn't know about Martin Carthy in Manchester - that would be a great way to finish the weekend John.

There will be Martin Carthy the day after for those staying over.

He is performing at The Bulls Head Failsworth Manchester at around 8pm Sunday - less than 30 mins drive from Uppermill.

Sorry you can't make it Carole - I know it's a long way!

We've already got some of the Shellbacks coming to join locals in wishing Mary and Arthur a good retirement (and at the same time telling them that they shouldn't be going!!).

Let me know if you want any directions - just don't look for Saddleworth as it doesn't exist! Look for Uppermill on the map (between Oldham and Huddersfield).

If any of you have been to Saddleworth Festival you'll know that one of our best venues is the Conservative Club because of the brilliant stewards Mary and Arthur. Unfortunately for us they are retiring in October (hope we get ones half as good for next year!) so we've decided to have a farewell party for them, which will be on Saturday, October 19th. Don't know the exact details yet, but we're thinking of having a singaround all day from 12 o'clock upstairs, and a session downstairs. If loads of people turn up, Geoff will see if we can use the playing fields as a campsite, as we do for the festival. I know that some of the Shellbacks are intending to come over, and it would be great to have some Catters there. If it's anything like the survivors seession at this year's festival, it will be brilliant! Hope to see some of you in Saddleworth in October. Ali PS The beer's pretty cheap so I'm told - I'll be on the Jamieson's!
