Bobert -- bank robery is about right.

"Some will rob you with a six-gun, others with a fountaun pen" - Woody Guthrie

Amos -- Great little lyric. Well said.

McGrath: Nah, my friend. Every thing finds it way back, somehow, sometime... All debts do get paid... no matter how sophisticated the crook.

That's the way I see it anyway...

BTW, beyond the foriegn intersts in Iraq's bounty, we can't forget that Junior's ol' golfing partner's are going to get their share of the boot. Yeah, you can take that to bank, so to speak...

Bobert

Okay, boys. Leave that girl alone and get back to work.

BTW, has anyone thought about just how popular Junior is going to look after he: 1. Stomps the crud out an over matched foe and 2. Steals all their oil and 3. Gas prices go down for all the US SUV'er's...

The downside, of course, is that the US will now be occupying two countries whoes inhabitants, like the inhabitans of the US are eventually gonna figure out that *after* the theft, Junior is real weak on keeping folks employed, or fed, or housed, or healthy, or....

I know my friend Doug wants his gut to just wipe out one "Axis of Evil" country after another, but after the spoils, there is a responsibility to keep some level of order...

But, for now, we'll at least have a bunch more oil to run thru the SUV's.

And, heck, by the time this crap hits the fan, Junior will be gone and the next guy will have to clean up the mess...

There are no free lunches...

Bobert

Actually, Genie is otherwise occupied today. And as for rubbing her magic lamp, well, that's between the two of you, Iguess...

That's what I like about this place. Rub the magic lamp and the genie leaps out and provides the song...

Bush to the world -- your end has come!
Be with us or you die!
Let every vote be freee
But count just those for meee
And widen up the pie
And widen out the pie
And widen, and widen out the pie!

Bush to the world -- how dare you ask
My reasons for the war?
I have official airs
I stole them fair and square
And what else is family for?
Oh, what else is family for?
Oh what, aside from graft, is family for?

Bush to the world -- let's you and him fight!
Go kill that crazy guy!
He's evil and obscene
He seems so downright mean
Don't be afraid to die! Don't be afraid to die!
I'll stay here in Washington while you go die!

Tralalalalalalala!!!

Regards,

A

"Bush to the world" - it sounds like some blasphemous parody of a Christmas Carol.

"We'll spit thru the streets of the cities we wreck
And we'll find you a leader that you can elect
Those treaties we signed were a pain in the neck
'Cause we're the cops of the world, boys
We're the cops of the world." [Ochs]

And then the Bushites have the gall to ask why certain folks "hate America". Right you are.

Best, Greg

Good point, C-Flat. The Washington Post had the debt at $8B that Iraq owes Russia, but, who's quibbling. I'm sure Putin-head would take the $8B in a heartbeat in exchange for not making any noises.

But like to the basic premise, if this. like a bank robbery gets pulled off, and there is little doubt that it will, you can bet that the US will be that much richer. Oh sure, they'll throw out numbers like confetti about how much it cost them to, ahh, defend themselves against Saddam massave inventory of WMD's, but make no bones about it. We win and we're going keep the marbles.

Yeah, Doug, is was probably a 33 or 34 Ford...

Who owns all this oil anyway? It's arguable I suppose - maybe the people of Iraq, maybe everybody on the planet. But definitely not the USA or Bush.

Is it also true that Bush is prepared to cover the 15 billion that Iraq owes Russia? It seems to be one of the reasons Russia has been stalling over the Iraq issue.

According to this site it was "a gray V8 Ford"

Though this all sounds more reminiscent of the way the world was carved up between the Empires in the 19th century.

One could naively ask what would happen if they set up a democratic ststem and the Iraqis decided they'd like an Islamic Republic on Iranian lines. But then "democratic" doesn't quite mean freedom to choose the things you aren't supposed to choose.

I could be wrong about this, Bobert, but I believe Bonnie and Clyde met their end in a 1933 or 34 Ford sedan.

Okay, I believe it is almost a given that the Bushfolk are going to find a way to attack Iraq now that he has figured out that by divying up the oil now, rather than after the US occupation he can get more folks on board.

Yep, with the second largest reserve of crude oil totalling 112 billionbarrels, Bush is saying in essence, You're either with us or against us. "It's pretty starightforward", said R. James Woolsey (Wash. Post of today). "If they throw in their lot with Saddam, it will be difficult to the point of impossible to persuade the new Iraqi government to work with them."

The blackmailed countries include Russia (Kirkuk Oil Fields, 10 B barrels, West Qurna, 15 B barrels); China (Al Ahdab); Italy and Spain (Nassirya); France (Majnoon with 10-30 B barrels and Nahr Umar, 6 B barrels), India and Algeria (Tuba), and the UK and the Neatherlands (Ratawi), to name a few.

Sounds to me like an old fashion bank robbery to me, except in this case no 6 guns and horses or Bonnie and Clyde Model A's, just smart bombs, F-16's, followed with the usual other vaious weapons of mass destruction.

Bobert
