The tune is quoted in Bronson from Albyn's Anthology, vol.I (1816), p. 78. Bronson was rather suspicious of the authenticity of the melody, and in particular of its second strain; but printed it with reservations. It's one of those I've made a midi of for eventual inclusion in the DT. For now, you can hear it via the South Riding Folk Network site:

Kinmont Willie (midi).

"Kinmont Willie" (trad. arr. Ross Kennedy / Steve Lawrence) is on Fyre & Sworde -- Songs of the Border Reivers (Fellside Recordings FECD131 [CD, UK, 1998]).

And the abridged is what I have, so I don't have a tune either.

KINMONT WILLIE (Child #186) is in the DT. Only one tune is given in Bronson's Traditional Tunes of the Child Ballads (vol. III, p. 168), but this ballad is not contained in his abridged edition (The Singing Tradition of Child's Popular Ballads).

Just been reading up on the "Border Rievers" and found this ballad. I'd like to know where I can hear the tune online so I don't need to read it in a vaccuum. It's not linked from the DT lyrics.
