I agree with Peat, I went on sunday and it was really nice , well done to Roger and everybody else that was involved with it.PS I was speaking to the landlord 9Steve) about the possibility of another session there on Tuesdays, as the on at the Hase has finished [the landlady at the hase asked them to move it to another venue), he was very enthusiastic, and said a new tuseday session would be very welcome, although he is not a musician he is very welcoming to folkies and already has folk sessions there evey sunday and alternate Tuesdays. This would give people more choice and they would not get mixed up as there would be a session there every tuesday.john

Thanks Pete for your contribution and to all the other catters who performed - I think that I managed to thank everyone on the night but apologies to anyone that I missed in the mayhem.

I haven't been back in to the Sun so I'm not sure how much they raised - will check tonight at the acoustic workshop (shameless plug)

Rog

Congratulations on organising an outstanding evening, Roger. I hope you managed to raise a goodly potion of dosh for the charity concerned. The atmosphere was great, the music was varied, and much fun seemed to be being had by all. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thanks John. If I ever get the chance to come to Hull I'm willing to give it a go. Of course, I don't like to drink, but it's the only way I can get it down...

John, what exactly is a pissup? Here in the US the first part of the word is slang for urine or to urinate. There is an expression used here, "Piss up a rope", which means loosely, scram! Or 'get stuffed' or to refer to a futile activity. cheers.

I'll refresh this with a gratuitous bit of crawling to thank you all in advance for turning up and peforming. My Mum has given me £5 for some raffle tickets - she fancies Amsterdam rather than the game of darts against John Lowe.

I think yoo are exactly right roger, this is a good reeson to go there instead of ne;llies, i have just read the nellies thread about the nellies landlady kicking petes kids out, this is very bad, some people are going to put vegetubuls on her windder sill, it serves her right.john

Thanks for this John

My last posting on the original thread was a bit garbled due to too much bear9 at a planning meeting in the Sun. However, it is a good cause and I'm more than happy to play and drink bear9 for any good cause.

Seriously, though, it should be a good night music wise and the raffle prizes should be worth venturing a pound or ten.

Cross referencing to the Nellies thread - Steve & Elaine, at the Sun are putting up the "Weekend in Amsterdam" prize at their own expense as well as some drinks for the performers on the night - all because one of their regulars works for the charity and wanted to raise some money. Now that is building a community rather than just taking the profits over the bar, don't you think?

sir Roger from Beberley and friends are holding a fundraising night on Sunday the 22nd) at The Sun inn in Beverley 9opposite the Minister. It is in aid of deaf kids , it is a good cause, as anyone who has met me will know I am slightly deaf so i intend to support this event if possible. There will be a raffle tickets are only a pound each and you can win a weekend away, a portabul telly and some other things but i forgot exactly what they are, but i think it was bears or food or something.
The people going are Mick 9ossonflags 7 frends, Les maggy and Roger, Antone, Simon Davey , Hissyfit, The Sun Inn Folk orchestra, and many more. Roger was telling me about this event last week andit is a cause worth supporting, they teach deaf kids to speak & lip read etc.I know a bit of sign language (BSL) and I can fingerspell, if anyone wants to learn just let me know and i be happy to teach you. There is already a thread about this but nobody replied so I started another. There is an extension till midnight so go if you can.john
