Subject: RE: BS: DC Anti-globalization & Peace Rally From: Bobert Date: 29 Sep 02 - 10:04 PM Hey, folks. Having just returned from D.C. I think things went well. Not quite up to the Moritorium standards, but a start. The music was real good with old folkie, Michelle Shocked and new comer, Jim page headlining and speakers Damu Smith (Black Voices of Peace) and Mendea Benjamin (Global Exchange) holding down the fort very well with their wonderful speeches. The march on Dick Cheney's house was spirited with chanys of "This is waht Democracy Looks Like" and "No War for Oil" ringing thru the crowd. The numbers were much samller than the London demonstration (Perhaps 15,000 to 20,000) but it was a start, in a country that George Bush and his buddies have allready put into play some things that look very much like the McCarthy days of witch hunting. There will be another major demonstration in Central Park in New York City on October 6th anf then again back in D.C on October 12th. If Catters acn get to these events, please try to do so. Bring your voices and instruments. There were plenty of folks with their instruments today and music is an important force in our struggle... Peace thru resistence. Bobert |

Color of my hair is the same as yours and well, heck, if some cop grabbed me by my hair, as little as there is, the hair would just give way. Believe me... But look fir me on Sunday. If they put a camera on me I'll turn my "No War" sign around and have "Hi, Doug" on the back. Bobert |

Subject: RE: BS: DC Anti-globalization & Peace Rally From: Bobert Date: 27 Sep 02 - 05:08 PM Dougie, Dougie, Dougie. You have way too much time on your hands, there's no question about that. Now, where did you come up with that purple hair stuff, anyway? You been smokin them banana peel again? No, it wasn't me, thank you. Those IMF and World Bank folks tend to be younger and roudier than me, believe it or not. Heck, I may be from Wes Ginny but Iz smart enough not to chain myself to no one whose hobby is layin' down in front of moving vehicles, thank you. But you can look fir me on Sunday where I'll be marching in the PEACE march. Now my 17 year old son may be with me and if so, you can bet he'll have the purple hair. Well, unless its pink or green or shaved off... Kids?... Bobert P.S. I haven't seen any coverage of the IMF protester but it sounds like they did a purdy good job of mucking up the commute this morning. Good fir 'em. Hey, ya gotta start someplace... |

Subject: RE: BS: DC Anti-globalization & Peace Rally From: DougR Date: 27 Sep 02 - 03:39 PM Hey Bobert! I was just watching Fox News Channel and saw some coverage of the "Protest" in Washington, D. C. The cops were dragging off some protester with purple hair. I couldn't tell if it was a male or female but the first thought that flashed through my head was, "I wonder if that was Bobert?" Was it? DougR |
