To all,

Thanks for mentioning the fest to Mudcat fans!

When Charllie Ipcar lived in Lansing, he was the host of many warm, fine song evenings. We hope to create that feeling in our two evening gatherings, and 12 workshops; the community singing together.

Please email me with any thoughts and suggestions. AND be sure to come, esp. if you are interested in producing such an event in your town. You can experience what worked, and what didn't, AND why...

(Actually, the production has been pretty easy. People are VERY excited about the weekend. I think it will be a smnash.)

More details weekly on the web site, www.singingfestival.com

Thanks again for your interest,

Sally Potter

There's a lot of good folks out there in my old home of Mid-Michigan. Sounds like a great event shaping up. Sally Potter is one third of the fantastic group Second Opinion, well respected for their harmonies and irreverent parodies.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

I saw the following notice on the Sing Out! listserv and thought folks might be interested.

There's a new festival on the block...and the audience does ALL of the singing!

This winter, people who love to sing great folk songs will congregate in East Lansing, Michigan and spend the weekend singing.

It's that easy.

Wonderful musicians are lined up - to LEAD songs at two evening gatherings ($12/ ticket/show) and twelve FREE afternoon workshops.

It's a festival where the songs are the stars of the weekend.

ALL of the details to this event are at singingfestival.com

Will there be many more festivals like this? I hope so. In fact, anyone who is interested in producing their own singing fest, and wants to attend this festival to get ideas, etc. can email me for some tickets and lodging suggestions.

I would love every folk music community to hold a festival like this - where every person who attends the events feels the power of singing - together - as a community.

I invite you to come to East Lansing this winter (Jan 31- Feb. 1, 2003) It will be a festival you will never forget.

Details are at www.singingfestival.com

Thanks for reading. Please email me with any thoughts or suggestions.

Sincerely,

Sally Potter, Festival Director

But look at this! I checked their site and followed some of the leader/performer links and, voila! Check out this well-deserved reference to Art Thieme.

Somebody's paying attention.
