I have a wonderful, obscure video of them singing in a German Cathedral back in their prime. We do Oh, Why?, If I Cannot Speak For Jesus and Wherever There's A Will, There's A Way. Thanks for the website, Kat... we'll all catch them on Letterman..

Jerry

For those who don't want to click over (and you know who you are!), they will be on Letterman on Nov. 6th.**BG**

They sounded great on the program with Rather, Jerry. Rather even got them to sing one he remembered from his youth AND he sang along with them. Didn't sound half bad, himself, either.

Thanks, mooman.:-)

They are late-comers. The Dixie Hummingbirds have been together for 74 years. My gospel quartet opened for them for one of their Anniversary concerts. We've been together for five... let's see, I'll be 136 years old on our 74th Anniversary... Hard to believe groups can hang on that long... it's not unusual for lead singers to stay in the group for thirty of forty years.. We do a lot of 5 Blind Boys material, and the Millenium album is probably their best... haven't heard the new one you're referring to..

Saw them here in Brussels last year...a superb, uplifting and unforgettable show! It's hard to imagine the band has been going that long and they just get better. Have just been listening to "Holdin' ON" again!

Thought some of you would have really liked the piece Dan Rather did with these guys on 60 minutes Two, last night. (First time I've ever watched that show, just happened to flip by and caught it.)

After 60 years, they are still singing beautifully together, still true to the gospel they've always sung. New album just released and an appearance on Letterman coming up.

here's a link to their website: Blind Boys

Thanks,

kat
