Subject: RE: Review: Eric Bogle Concert From: BH Date: 03 Dec 02 - 08:46 PM I just saw the thread. My assumption is that Murph was in--I forget the town--in Calif. Eric Bogle --who I had the honor of introducing in Paramus NJ a few weeks back---said the turnout there was awful. He He also said that the rest of the tour was great---and I can say that Paramus NJ was just about sold out. The concert was wonderful. His presence and his music are always something that can mesmerize the audience. They were laughing---and crying from his talk and music. The comet passes once again in 2005. Subject: RE: Review: Eric Bogle Concert From: GUEST,jim@newsouthfolk.com Date: 29 Nov 02 - 11:06 PM Sandra asked it I could add to the chat. Eric as you've seen is travelling with John Munro at present. Dave is presently touring with Liz Doherty as a duo. don't know if there's any plans to change either set up at present. To my knowledge Eric & Dave didn't do anything "together" but they are well and truly on Eric's last 3 CD's all of which can be sourced from http://www.windbourne.com/ebogle/ regards, Jim |

Subject: Review: Eric Bogle Concert From: Murph10566 Date: 25 Nov 02 - 02:41 PM Hi All - Attended an excellent Concert last night featuring Eric Bogle and his sidekick, John Munro ... Small hall, sparsely attended, unfortunately - certainly not a reflection on their talent or presence, but it made for a nice intimate show... The two sets featured some of his classics ('Band Played Waltzing Matilda', 'No Man's Land') and many songs from his most recent CD release, 'The Colour of Dreams'... Some very powerful lyric content (a Bogle trademark) and a few biting satirical tunes kept the edge sharp and well-balanced... This was the first time I had heard the Music of John Munro - most impressive - excellent guitar work and mando licks as well. His vocal harmonies blended nicely with Eric's solid melody line - you could tell this wasn't the first time they'd performed together... spot-on timing in some tricky musical passages. Eric Bogle kept a solid running commentary between numbers; humorous anecdotes and witty asides had us all in stitches and lightened the tone from some of his more serious tunes... They're off to the Boston, MA area tonight, I think - any 'Catters (or anyone else) should make a point of catching this act as the tour winds down... He'll be heading North to Canada before swinging through Texas and finishing up in New Orleans... Great stuff ! Murph |
