To get the cursor in that typing box, click "OK" in the Options area, that should do the trick.

May be obvoius - but put yer cursor on the box at the bottom, click it, type. then hit return.

Aha! I just realized you are talking about the Chat room, well, call me dumb too that I didn't catch on from "Mudchatters".

It doesn't work for me in Netscape browser, Jean, but if I use Explorer everything works ok. I'm on a Mac. I'm not sure if that solves your problem, but if you are using a Mac, you need to use Explorer instead
of Netscape in order to get the Mudchat room to work.

Yes, Jean, you do need to check on the "Enter Mudchat" box before you see the text boxes.

Thanks, all- I didn't see any flashing cursor and when I tried to type nothing showed up. Katlaughing, you gave good directions, but I'm out of time. Will try again soon...does one have to click on "Join" before the thing will work?

And thanks for the news about the Heritage concert. I was not informed about it, so missed it entirely- I was upset to say the least! They're supposed to send us copies, and also a video of the whole thing- I guess I'd better start emailing Madeleine! Thanks again, you-all-   Jean

You're not alone Jean. I entered it a few weeks ago, everyone said hello...... and my internet connection went down. Tried again and the same thing happened. Guess we just weren't mean't to be partiers!

Once you enter the 'room" there should be an elongated white text box at the bottom of where you can see everyone else's messages. Your cursor should be blinking in the far left corner of that box. If it is, then you can type in your message, then hit "enter" and it should show up in the public chat text box above where you typed.

Also, if you want to send a private chat message to one of the others who are in there, go over to the right where it shows who is in there and use the drop down menu to choose Send a message and click on their name. Then you type the message, as before, click enter, and it will show on your screen and theirs, but no one else will be able to see it. It should also show in a different colour than the public text.

I listened to the NEA Concert last night on a radio station lamarca linked for us. It was wonderful!! So nice to hear you!

To all in the Mudchat Room, apologies. I just checked in to see what it was about- and received all the welcomes but couldn't figure out how to write a message. Shouldn't there be instructions for newcomers?
