Subject: RE: Pilgrimage to Paradise From: rich r Date: 19 Jul 98 - 01:04 AM Charles, You probably got the "Lovin' Sound" record by now. I will take a stab at the lyrics. A thorought search of my notebooks did not turn up the copy that I know is there. I have been doing the song for (pun alert!) ians, but not recently so I will try to remember it. "Pilgramage" was written by their guitar player at the time, David Rea. Interestingly it was not included in the "Lovin' Sound" songbook, although the lyrics to a Bob Dylan song were in the book. PILGRAMAGE TO PARADISE by David Rea
While walking slowly down that lonesome street one day
I continued on my journey to the place I'd never been
I met travellers along the way who could no longer stand
Now my own feet they are bleeding and my tongue is parched and dry
Some people speak of pastures where the milk and honey flows

Subject: RE: Pilgrimage to Paradise From: Charles Meyrick Date: 08 Jul 98 - 03:31 PM Dale, Thanks for the pointer! Now I know why I was unable to find that song anywhere: the album never got released in CD format. I located a used record store that has the album, and ordered it from them. I should have the album sometime next week. Again, many thanks for coming up with the name of the album!! Charles |

Subject: RE: Pilgrimage to Paradise From: Dale Rose Date: 08 Jul 98 - 12:39 AM You are right about it being Ian and Sylvia. This was on one of their later albums, Lovin' Sound on MGM 4388. So far as I know, it has not been released on CD, though other songs from the album were on their compilation from the MGM/Ampex/Columbia years, Long Long Time on Vanguard. I can't promise that I will do it any time soon, but if no one else can come up with it, I will dig it out and listen and at least try to get the words for you. |

Subject: Pilgrimage to Paradise From: Date: 07 Jul 98 - 01:43 PM I'm trying to locate a song I heard many years ago, on an Ian & Sylvia album (I think). I believe that the title of the song was "Pilgrimage to Paradise". I am nearly certain that the refrain included the phrase "I continued on my pilgrimage to Paradise" (may have been "We continued on our...") Does anyone recall this song? Have lyrics? Know where I can get the music for it? Many thanks. Charles Meyrick |
