There are four bars in a row on Union Quay(which is, as you would expect, on the river). The Lobby has a fine array of musical events in the trad line, both guests you pay for upstairs, and sessions downstairs. In Charlie's next door on a Monday night you'll hear Ray Barron and Hank Weddell, and unmissable experience in an amazing bar. Asking around in either of those bars will soon let you know whats going on in Cork.

Or Sin e pub on Coburg St (just north of the river) - Sunday and Tuesday nights, I think. There's a good instrument shop and a good tape/CD shop in the same neighbourhood on McCurtain St. The guy in the instrument shop (the small shop, there's a bigger one in the same street) seems to know a lot about who's playing where.

Try the pub An Spaipin Fanach. Saw a great session there made up of most of the band Calico. Excellent uillean piping.

This summer,I'm visiting Cork,in a house exchange. I'll be hoping to find some"real" traditional music spots, pubs,or whatever. My tastes are towards Planxty,Paul Brady and the like. Can anyone make recommendations?Or,perhaps, suggest another website or source for suggestions? Thanks!
