And here's something to consider if you think it's petty to file for a chance to receive $20.00"
"Defendants' combined cash payments total $67,375,000."
And later...
"If the number of claims filed would result in refunds of less than $5.00 per claimant, there will be no cash distribution to individual consumers. Rather, the cash portion of the Settlement shall be distributed to not-for-profit, charitable, governmental or public entities to be used for music-related purposes or programs for the benefit of consumers who purchased Music Products."
I'm not sure I understand this correctly, but if I do, what it says is that enough people file a claim, $65,375,000 will be donated to music-related programs.

Here's a link for that music settlement. It's called the Compact Disc Minimum Advertised Price Antitrust Litigation Settlement.

Ahhh, when you apply for this and read the fine print you'll find that the award will be a maximum of $20. It all depends how many folks file claims. It can be as little as $5 but, hey, with CD prices so high, anything beats a blank...

If you legitimately bought CDs between 1995 and Dec 2000, you are entitled to get a $20.00 rebate. Remember when the music industry was sued and forced to pay out a settlement of 44 million? Well, here's your chance to get back some bucks if you bought music. Many people are not aware of this. The web site is www.musiccdsettlement.com.

I'm one of those dinosaurs that actually tries to support my folk/jazz/blues performer by BUYING music. I must have spent thousands on CDs during that time. I just wish the settlement would have forced the prices down.
