String Orchestra--The Brushpoppers

I'm looking for information on what has been described as a string orchestra called the Brushpoppers. The leader was Rusty Edwards and the group performed in the American West, especially in Nevada, Idaho, and California, sometime during the middle of the 20th century. One of the members was Lee Davis who supposedly played for the New York Symphony. Anybody ever hear of them?
