Subject: RE: Tech: Looking for MIDI handclap From: JohnInKansas Date: 10 Mar 03 - 08:04 PM Joe - If I change your quarter notes on the "claps" to sixteenths, and add a dotted eighth rest after each one, I get a little more clappy sound. Adding, perhaps an F to the Bb to broaden the spectrum a little seems to also help. Still seems like it needs a little "snap" on the beggining. Maybe superimposing a woodblock or something similar. The "Applause" sound is a sort of "white noise," so if you cut the duration short enough it should sound something like a single clap. I didn't try anything shorter than a two-feather note on it though. Sometimes you have to "assemble" your own sounds from what's on the device board. The Korg M1 device is pretty common, and has a "Finger Snap" (#70), and the Roand U-220 has two "Slaps (#30, 31), but you can't be sure the person playing your masterpiece will have (and use) alternate devices - so the applause in General Midi is probably your best bet. Subject: RE: Tech: Looking for MIDI handclap From: MMario Date: 10 Mar 03 - 12:03 PM yup - is possible - you will probably have to use layerd staves; (changing the channel on one of them to channel 10) and then select whichever percussion note you feel fits best. e-mailed you a sample |

Subject: RE: Tech: Looking for MIDI handclap From: MMario Date: 10 Mar 03 - 11:47 AM joe - of the standard ones in NWC the one I would probably use would be woodblock. from this midi site it appears that hand clap is pitch 39 as a drum not. checking to see if it is possible to do that in NWC |
