What a wonderful w/e you guys had, by the look of it. Wish my gentleman friend and I could have been there. (We were a bit busy elsewhere.) And the sun shone for you, must have been all those fantastic voices!

alanw - I've heard you play Ashokan Farewell and can't think of any reason for you to give it up; thanks for the kind words though.

And thanks to Jude for (amongst other things) risking life and lungs to come and overhear me. (They made the venue totally non-smoking the next day).

Just in case anyone is missing a violin/fiddle having gone home via Oakhampton from Crediton, there's one been found at a service station - details on the Benbow FC site. Hope it's reunited with it's player :-)

Mick's playing was wonderful - Ashokan Farewell followed by O'Carolan's Draught were magic - I immediately gave up playing Ashokan Farewell on my concertina!

Don't do that Alan. I heard you play it on the Saturday afternoon and it was very a enjoyable sound and I say that as one who is not as a rule, a great fan of squeezy boxes.

And yes, it was a lot of fun - well worth the dreadful hangover on the Sunday. But next time I will try to remember not to drink too much so that I can enjoy the Sunday too :-)

With that guitar, my darling he's just incredibly lucky that someone honest found it! BTW I may not have been able to stay in the venue because of the smoke but Mick's playing was ab fab.....(I heard it from outside) not that I am surprised anymore cos he's always sickeningly amazing, which is why I went to a place I knew was not good for my health. See the lengths I go to!

We had an excellent weekend. Thanks to everyone who made it enjoyable.

Sadly on the way back Mick left his guitar at a service station so we had to retrace our steps for 110 miles. Luckily a cleaner had found it and it had been put away safely for us. After a drive from Devon to the Yorkshire border though a round trip of 220 miles was the last thing we wanted to do!

Guru,
Remember that when you are pissed 90% of the audience at a Folk Festival probably are aswell (especially at that time of day!) Therefore NOBODY will notice misteaks - and hey, we all make them, its how you deal with them that matters, my father in law always says a bum note is history, play on!
No we didn't have a beer, I was on H2O 'coz I was driving - so definately next time! I was the one on Saturday who sang Union Miners and The war to end all war (lost my voice by that stage - bloody hayfever!!)

I'll take 100 lines - do not try singing when you'ree pissed!!!! BTW wonderful stuff last that you & Lorna were doing last night - very polished - wish I could have stayed but I was dead on my feet :-(

Thank you too Hawker & yes, I did think I'd messed up so it's good to hear that it came across OK! Am hoping to do some more songs with Jude (& others too), it's all great fun!

Wonderful festival - shame it's such a long drive, but I'll definitely get there next year. Lovely to meet so many Cats there! Super bunch of Folkies, excellent singing & music & very relaxed & well organised. Thanks for this weekend :-)

Thank-you Hawker, the person I was singing with is also a cat known as "My guru always said" and she will be especially pleased to hear you enjoyed it because she was convinced that she'd messed it up. It's only the 4th time we've ever sung together, and we're still playing round slightly with pitch and timing.

Hopefully I'll get to see you in a couple of weeks time at Miskin.

Well hope all of you who went, got home safely, We were disappointed to have only managed to get up there for the day on Saturday, but it was worth it! Great singing and good company. Nice to meet up with those of you I've met before and those of you I knew on the cat but had never met! - especially Snuffy! How was your head this morning Sire? You seemed to have a really enjoyable evening!!! JudeL Keep singing with your friend (somethingguru?) It sounded great and that was not just my opinion! Well done! Well those of you who make it, we'll be at Miskin this Easter for more Music Mirth and Merriment, hopefully we'll all meet up again soon - Its really nice to put faces to names! Cheers,
