Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Starts with- Here we are in April From: MAG Date: 14 Apr 03 - 08:59 PM and a great show it was, too. I much preferred your hosting to Larry Rand's, Art. I know he's a friend and all, but his sarcasm etc. was just way over the top. MA |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Starts with- Here we are in April From: Art Thieme Date: 14 Apr 03 - 08:51 PM I remember a live version of this being done by the husband and wife team----Rich and Maureen Del Grosso --- then from the Detroit area. This was on my old radio show for NPR called the FLEA MARKET in the 1980s. It was a real change of pace from their mainstay mandolin and piano blues ala Yank Rachell and maybe Fats Waller. Sadly, Maureen passed away a few years ago----and I can still hear her singing this one... Art Thieme |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Starts with- Here we are in April From: GUEST Date: 14 Apr 03 - 05:41 AM I was listening to that song just the other day. It was performed by the vocal trio Arky's Toast on their LP "From the half moon to the rising sun". It also crops up on Martin Wyndham Read's "Maypoles to mistletoe" album |

Subject: Lyr Add: APRIL (Ted Robinson) From: Nigel Parsons Date: 13 Apr 03 - 03:25 PM Possibly: April So here we are in April, in showy, blowy April, In frowsy, blowsy April, the rowdy dowdy time In soppy, sloppy April, in wheezy breezy April, In ringing, stinging April, with a singing swinging rhyme. The smiling sun of April on the violets is focal, The sudden showers of April seek the dandelion out; The tender airs of April make the local yokel vocal, And he raises rustic ditties with a most melodious shout. So here we are in April, in tipsy gypsy April, In showery, flowery April, the twinkly, sprinkly days; In tingly, jingly April, in highly wily April, In mighty, flighty April with its highty-tighty ways! The duck is fond of April, and the clucking chickabiddy And other barnyard creatures have a try at caroling; There's something in the air to turn a stiddy kiddy giddy, And even I am forced to raise my croaking voice and sing. Ted Robinson (Found Here) Nigel |
