Subject: Looking for AC/DC Blues album From: Marion Date: 30 Apr 03 - 11:30 AM Hello all. In an old thread about traditional songs with queer themes, The Resonator made this post: For what it's worth, there was a long-standing tradition in the old black blues circles of gay/lesbian songs. Of course, the blues was full of double-entendres anyway. I don't know if Stash records has released its catalogue on CD, but they had a 1977 LP called "AC/DC Blues." It has cuts such as Kokomo Arnold's version of "Sissyman Blues," and Bessie Jackson doing "B.D. Woman's Blues." One cut, "It's tight like that," features Thomas A. Dorsey, who later became the father of modern gospel music! The songs were recorded between 1927 and 1936. Peace. Anyone know how I could put my hands on this album (tape or CD)? Thanks, Marion |
