Hi Janice, it does seem that at least on Mudcat, New York is not living up to it's potential... Where have all the New York Folkies gone, long time passing... Larry

Larry, thank you and peace unto you. This is good to know if I ever return, which I assume I will do some day. There can never be too many venues for music making and for peace making. And thanks, too, for the CD. We love it.

The 15th Street Meeting of the Society of Friends (Quakers) OKd the concept of a Peace Cafe for the meeting house Wednesday nights, starting this summer. The idea is to provide a venue for folk music and art that reflects our concept of peace and social justice. We hope to have Quaker and other folk artists, get together weekly at 7PM for a jam, and concert, with local and guest artists. Instead of admission there would be a collection for the upkeep of the peace cafe and for Quaker projects for peace and social justice.
SO ... if you want to help get this organized, or just keep in touch on this, contact Larry Otway at 212 228 5147.
For those of you who have not had much to do with Quake's, we do not proselytize, so this is not an evening ABOUT Quakerism or religion, but rather our shared concerns with folk musicians concerned with peace and social justice.
Peace
Larry
