Dear Alison,

With these type of boukoukis, attaching a strap to the top of the neck could put an unacceptable strain on the neck body joint. Personally I would site strap buttons such that the screws for them go into the end block (bottom of the intrument) and the neck/body block (preferably slightly to the lower side of the instrument as you're playing it.) It is important to very carefully drill a hole (I always use a hand-operated drill for control) with a drill bit just marginally thinner than the outside of the screw threads...in order to avoid any splitting if the instrument woods or blocks by pressure of the screw.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Any reputable music store should be able to do this for you very cheaply.

I have a lovely round backed (greek type) bouzouki, I would like to put a guitar strap on it, but am not keen on drilling a hole to put one of those thingies (I'm sure there is a technical term... *grin*) to attach a strap to, anyone got any ideas on how to attach a strap without hurting the bouzouki?

thanks
