Hi Piers

Sorry, I couldn't be there to share the evening with you

I was singing with you as we flew overhead in our 737

Landed to late to come along - hope it was good

Grovel Ross

Saw a duck on Lake Como - looked like one I'd seen before

Hamish and Lorna as well as the Acoustic Dudes and Pavlov's Cat, this concentration of musicality in one place has been unknown since Woodstock, watch out Rickmansworth!

Thanks for the humour chaps, this from their website explains the name:

Does the name Pavlov's Cat ring a bell? We know about 1904 Nobel Prize winner the Russian physiologist Pavlov & his experiments on dogs but cats are altogether smarter & more cynical.

Pavlov's Cat occupy the musical territory fast becoming recognised under the genre label "Acoustic". fRoots magazine described them as "determinedly acoustic" with "an eye on life's shadowy side".

A very English sounding 3 piece playing melodic, rolling songs with emphasis on dynamics & organic sounds; lyrically cynical, occasionally dark but not without a glimmer of optimism.

Darren Tansley weaves intricate piano & Hammond around James Hibbins' spartan acoustic guitar & rich vocals. The structure is glued by Nick Anderson's intelligent bass work, described variously as "booming" & "impossibly elastic". For Festivals & larger gigs the trio are joined by drummer Jason Bangers.

Formed in 1999, Pavlov's Cat have appeared in Acoustic orientated venues & Folk clubs across the UK, headlining & in support to Folk luminaries Steve Ashley, Dick Gaughan, Clive Gregson , Leon Rosselson & Michael Chapman.

James & Nick played together in the band Nexus, Darren is a veteran of numerous folk-rock bands including Blyth Power. Darren has recently taken to playing without his fabled hat.

2002 saw the release of their second album "Motes of Dust", an 8 track mini album on AcoustiCity Records. Recorded in short, intensive stints with percussionist Ken Holland, it preserves much of the band's live sound while adding new depth acoustically.

Darren & James also run the successful AcoustiCity live club at the Headgate Theatre, Colchester.

'Passionate, yet well crafted acoustic action from a likeable but
thought provoking bunch of chaps.' Pete Jennings (February 2003)
