Francis Cabrel is one of our best song writers.

Here is his official website.

Francis Cabrel is a brilliant singer. I got to know his music when I was stationed in Germany from 88 to 91. I have three of his CDs, Sarbacane, Quelqu'un de l'interieur, and Cabrel 77-87. He is a major star in France. A good introduction to his music would be the 77-87 CD.

There aren't many artists who can combine a beautiful voice, intelligent lyrics, and good tunes like Cabrel. I'm not too familiar with his more recent stuff, though.

More of a rocker than a cabaret singer to my ears, but more intelligent than most rockers.

Edmund

I while back, I was searching the radio bands, and I came across a French station. They played a track my a singer called Francis Cabrel. The song seemed to be a hommage to the great pre-war blues singers. Son House and Robert Johnson, and others, got mentioned in the chorus. Does anyone out there know the music of Francis Cabrel? He sounded like a real talent to me.
