Lots of places only deal with Ticketmaster. Good on the band! I hate this system.

The jam-band String Cheese Incident which sells tickets to its and affiliated bands' concerts through its in-house ticketing agency, SCI Ticketing, has filed suit against US ticketing giant Ticketmaster. Click here and then click the "click for press release" link. The gist of the suit seems to be that Ticketmaster, through exclusive or near-exclusive ticket distribution agreements with some venues and promoters unfairly limits the number of tickets that independent agents such as SCI Ticketing are allowed to sell.

I say good on 'em.

Our local university is co-sponsoring a concert by John Prine in a few weeks. I don't know exactly why, but the only way to get tickets is through Ticketmaster. Tickets for university-sponsored concerts are usually available through the university ticket office, but not in this case. I'd much rather see ticket-sales profits go the school than to a mega-corporation.
