Art -- I too had a great time too at the Fox Valley Fest. Besides the great music, I got to talk to John Roberts and he offered to send me some Welsh songs - since I've been learning the language, I have to sing something other than Ar Hyd Y Nos (all thru the night).

Also, Art, what did you think of Annie Gallup? - I had never heard her before - I thought she had the same gift for playfulness with words that Dave Carter had. Very enjoyable, but will hope for better weather next year.

Lastly, Muriel has a Thanksgiving concert every year in the Chicago 'burbs. We're usually away, but it might be something you - or others -- could make. See her website for details.

Hello, Chris,

Good meeting you at the Fox Valley Folk Fest over Labor Day even in the rain. It was a great one anyway, folks.

I remember Murial as a kid taking lessons at the original location of the Old Town School Of Folk Music on North Ave and Sedgwick in Chicago (1965-1966 era). The next I heard of her she was doing joint concerts with some of the greats -- like Chet Atkins. Someone will, no doubt, do a biography some day and it'll be a fascinating one I am sure. It will be a very "nice" read because Murial Anderson always seemed to me to be a very nice person. No lurid tales anywhere in it. And it'll be a fantastic look at the musical development of a beautiful gal who made me and the other guys shut the hell up about females picking the guitar. That was when males of my generation were chauvenist pigs more often than not, and it was before I was enlightened by feminists grand logic.

Murial Anderson is simply the best. Go to the seminar knowing you're going to come away MUCH better than when you went in---and you'll be a big fan as well.

She is an amazing player, She plays pretty much every kind of guitar music plus a coulple of pieces, like the "Monty Python" theme that you would never expect to hear on guitar. Amazing stuff.

Muriel is fantastic!! Ask her to play "Nola," if she doesn't include it in her seminar. I remember hearing her when she played bluegrass in high school. Check the web for more info. You'll be very glad you went.
