I have just taken a call from the redoubtable Mrs Ryan, who was seeking technical advice re tuning an outboard motor. It isn't too much of a quantum leap to suspect that the iron topsail is being put into the key of Barton to feature centrally in the eagerly awaited new Cara CD.

I have both Cara's CDs - I love them. The musicianship is excellent, the tunes melodic and haunting, and the singer's voice has a softness and gentleness that I love.

I have been playing them every day since receiving them - they are very beautiful, and the three musicians extremly talented.

I spotted the above some time ago but forgot to reply. The question should be - what are the old boot, fuschia, whitewashed wall and old chair about, then?
I saw Cara in Brigg yesterday (9.11)They had a man taking photos of Mike Ryan, again. I saw the one called Skipjack there and he told me things. Also, that fabulous imprasario was there (branches throughout Barrow) I felt sorry for the lovely singer in Cara as the fight in the corner reached its' height just as he was at his most sensitive. Oakley was very jolly and the guitarist man was nice.

Many thanks to the one called Skipjack and his copyist tendencies. I have met him in the past and he told me things. It is of concern that the profound and dainty works of Cara have become associated with cavortings of an unthinkable type. What next - dancing?

'The Snot on the Flags' is also a deeply personal and contemplative prediction, performed sensitively by the Barrow Aerophone and Bassoon Fanciers (branches throughout Barrow), with a solid disco beat and a wicked 'do-do-do' sound sample from the seminal chant 'Ring My Bell', which is faithful to the Celtic tradition 9although we don't upset anyone from Rangers, like)

I note in the previous messages from the other one he didn't admit to sending 900 CDs back to Ireland to get them shrink wrapped, thus causing at least a week long delay in supply to the demanding hordes. This despite the advice of the one with jet black curly hair.

It is with regret that I read the other Oakley's purple prose in respect of the Notes in the Stones CD. This may seem a little pre post-Freudian, however; it is the role of the ego to regulate the urges of the id. The other Oakley is, sadly, beyond my reach - depite nocturnal chastisement.
On one thing we do agree the new CD is an emotionally charged and honest offering. Oakley's rash violin playing is supported beautifully by Rawlings on guitar with that man who appears to have learnt to complain on a number of instruments (including voice)blathering at intervals.

It will, of course, be difficult to surpass the music on the first CD, which was called Hiding Under the Sofa or something like that. However, one must point out that the liner notes, if accurately reproduced above, are profoundly meaningless.

Does the Bar Code give access to bars?   If it is as good as I am told by those that ought to know better, it probably might be worth buying?   What is your selling strategy, your marketing ploy, your advertising campaign? At what point on your expedential line do you invest more to return more?

Maybe going to swansong of Coach and Horses session next Tuesday, if only to find out new venue and if so if someone who could be trusted possessed one and you knew they would hand over £12 ish I might hand over that sort of sum approximately.

By the way Hull City Festival next year is combining with the Mouth of the Humber Festival in June to make one huge great whimper of a festival. I thought John Prescott was the mouth of the Humber but seemingly it is a poetry festival!

The music world is agog with indifference with news that today sees the release of Cara's new album "The Notes in the Stones". Inspired by a huge gas bill, the official blurb from Cara's Management Company – the obscure, negligent and secretive Gamblemusic (branches throughout Barrow) drivels on:

"Cara is a group of musicians from North Lincolnshire UK, specializing in a spirited and contemplative blend of traditional and original Celtic music. Cara has performed together over the last two years, building a growing reputation for a sound that is distinctive, sensitive and evocative.

Cara's original material, though profoundly personal, is accessible. Its traditional material is respectful of both the origin and purpose of the music without being overly reverential. Cara embraces the tradition's natural tendency to evolve musically and the clarity of the instrumental voices and restrained arrangements combine with powerful, thought-provoking lyrics to produce the distinctive "Cara" experience.
