The woman who is teaching it uses drumming in working with seniors, kids, and so on-- theraputic purposes, building relational/interpersonal skills (ie if you've got 5 different rhythms going you have to work together to make it beautiful! something "problem" teens sometimes aren't real good at). And so on.

Hi Folks, I'm music coordinator for the 3rd Annual Athens Area Sustainability Fest, Athens OH, October 11 and 12. The committee voted this year not to do a stage as such, (have done the last 2 fests) but we are hosting an open old-time jam and soliciting for folks interested in busking. The festival is organized around the theme of sustainability and there will be workshops, displays, vendors, etc on everything from solar and wind power to comunity preparedness to "Drumming & Wellness"
