Subject: RE: Blowzabella - some very good news From: Gray D Date: 02 Dec 03 - 08:08 PM Phot/Chris I did stick a gleeful post on the Beeb message board when I found out about the gig. Wear your dancing shoes if you catch them 'cos one of the things that struck me was that even when I wanted to stand still, my legs didn't. Just could NOT stop jigging. Jennifer You could have stayed and adopted the approach of one mother that I saw laying her zonked out 4 year old out across 3 or 4 unused seats (everyone seemed to be dancing, not sitting) Herga Kit You mean "was", old thing. The gig is past and gone. Next year, a? Gray D (STILL buzz....) |

Subject: RE: Blowzabella - some very good news From: Herga Kitty Date: 02 Dec 03 - 04:02 PM I remember Andy Cutting from before he was a demon melodeon player (he was pretty ace on the triangle, playing percussion for Flowers of May and Pagets before he started on reed instruments). I also have fond memories of Dave Roberts dancing the Dorset 4 hand reel backwards while dressed as a baby at an Earls of Essex fancy dress Christmas party in the late 1970s... Good to see from the website that Dave Armitage (ex-Hammersmith Morris) is going to be playing the Bath gig. |

Subject: RE: Blowzabella - some very good news From: GUEST,jennifer Date: 02 Dec 03 - 01:24 PM Well I hadn't heard they were getting back together again next year, even though I was at Leicester. But we did leave a bit early due to the youngster having fallen asleep. Will definitely have to get some dancing shoes and go back for another go! |

Subject: RE: Blowzabella - some very good news From: Phot Date: 02 Dec 03 - 11:01 AM Bugger! I missed it, A few good friends and myself used to follow the wall of sound all over the place, the horn section harmonies, and Andy's demon playing allways did it for us. I last saw them at Sidmouth festival a few years ago, they brought back a lot of very good memories, I'll just have to catch up with them next year! Wassail! Chris. |

Subject: RE: Blowzabella - some very good news From: Gray D Date: 01 Dec 03 - 03:53 PM Dave Bryant - have a look at Blowzabella's home page for a partial list of band members (bottom of the second page). I got the impression that some of the players weren't doing every gig, but only the band could confirm that. Jennifer - couldn't agree more about the swirling throng. Sometimes I just watched the dancers instead of the band - particularly the young morrisers that I mentioned in my piece on the Beeb site. Countess Richard - didn't know they'd announced it at Leicester. It sounded like they had only just decided at Bath. Still there's a whole throng of people who won't have known and will be thrilled skinny to find out . . . er . . . but not on the Mudcat, apparently. It'll just have to be our little thread. Gray D (still buzzing from the gig) |

Subject: RE: Blowzabella - some very good news From: GUEST,jennifer Date: 01 Dec 03 - 07:35 AM Andy Cutting was there at Leicester. It were fab. We sat upstairs due to the tender years of one of our party, and were mesmerised by the kaleidoscope of dancers below. The music was just mindblowing. |
