She heard it among a swirl of bunches of other music on New Year's Eve, so it didn't quite stick.:-) If no one else comes in with, let's set a time when I can call you to have you sing it and I can record it direct form the phone or you could send me an audio file, okay? Thanks a bunch, ya'll! kat |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: You can't be a pirate - Don Freed From: Bill D Date: 02 Jan 04 - 09:25 AM well, the chorus is 'mostly' like "Redwing" or "Union Maid", but I can't think of how to describe the verses...it's not complex, but if she heard it once, maybe she can approximate it. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: You can't be a pirate - Don Freed From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 02 Jan 04 - 06:11 AM try Charley Noble - he gave me a copy of the words when he was here, unfortunately it's not on his website. The note on the photocopy says the words are as sung by Tom Lewis at Mystic 2003. sandra |

Subject: Tune Req: You can't be a pirate - Don Freed From: katlaughing Date: 01 Jan 04 - 07:34 PM This is for my wandering sister, Mudcatter "bet", who heard this song whilst visiting kids in CA over the holidays. She's going back to teaching music after the holiday and wants to teach this one to her kids. We've found the lyrics in the Forum, but no tune. She'd love to buy the album Don recorded it on called "Live ARR!" by Bushleaugue Records, but we've been unsuccessful in finding it. Anyone know the tune and/or where to buy this album? Thanks a bunch, kat |
