From another source this seems to be the details of the Summer session ,presumably at the Clifton Arms on the Sunday lunchtime again:

Programme sales, raffles etc. go to support Reading Area local Charities. Thameside Promenade, Caversham Bridge, Reading, Berkshire, England, and at various locations in Caversham. Excellent camping / caravanning site adjacent to all Festival activities. Close by is the Rivermead Centre with swimming pool / showers etc. All within walking distance of Reading Town Centre. Mike Tierney, 81 Hadrian Walk East, Reading, RG2 7TZ enclosing a stamped self addressed envelope. info@ccff.org.uk

Usual packed house on Sunday for this. The room, as KSS said had been completely redesigned so the bands played in a sort of pit, the disco dance floor. Somehow the old scuffed and battered room suited skiffle better! Also no draught bitter on so lkots of too and fro to the downstairs bar.
The old scuffed and battered audience (very enthusiastic participation both choral and terpsichrean)also included some youngsters (ie under 40s!)this year, as well as Steve Benbow's Protege ( on cajun rub-board and fez)who last year brought the average age down a whole decade, the Mounthoolies were a young band and The Acoustic Astronauts had a fiddle player who was, I guess about 13 (they also had a diminutive double bass player in Betty Davila who could hardly reach the top of the neck. Regulars Zimmer Boys and King Street Smith were there, too, sadly, Steve Benbow had injured himself on his smallholding so couldn't join the rest of the New City Gamblers.
As well as playing 'Catters KSS and SBP, Leadfingers and myself were in the audience helping to raise the average age. Plenty of washboards of varying complexity (I took pity on everyone and left the Washboard of Mass Destruction at home)but no washtub or teachest bases. Quite a range of styles, too, all what the US 'catters would call Old Timey.

I hope the Caversham Summer session is on a weekend I can get to.

(Just about thawed out after having to wait about 45 minutes for a train home at Twickers as the one I'd gone to catch was cancelled)

Dunno, Terry, I'd e-mailed DNP+1 to ask for dates some time ago but got no reply till the flyer came through the post this week. Haven't got contact info for Frank of KSS. Last time I "spoke" to Pete Oliver by PM he didn't know the date and he's playing!

Sadly paid work prevented me getting to The Cabbage Patch, and I am already down for Portaferry the Caversham weekend. Dare I ask why info for Caversham didn't get to us THIS side of Reading til LAST WEEK ???

Venue: Clifton Arms, Caversham, Reading (same as the Summer skiffle session attached to the Caversham Folk Festival).
1pm to 5.30 pm FREE.
Zimmer Boys and King Street Smith are performing again as are other Caversham regulars Skyport Ade, DPN+1 and the Delaney Group.

I gather Steve Benbow (and his protege!) will be performing. Glad to hear he's back to playing health again.
