Subject: RE: mini guitar-banjos? From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 08 Mar 04 - 10:11 AM DOH! I had the digital camera in my pocket as well, Terry, and never thought of that! Mind you, the window was dirty and the shop pretty dark. I suppose I could have gone in and said, "I'm not buying but could I photograph those banjos?" but would probably have got the Edinburgh equivalent of a Glasgow Kiss! RtS |

Subject: mini guitar-banjos? From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 07 Mar 04 - 03:35 AM Another "what is that instrument?" thread, I'm afraid. I've just come back from a few days in Edinburgh and saw an unusual instrument in a pawn shop window: a small 6-string banjo with a very small pot: 4" or 5" diameter only. To my surprise there were two others the same in among the assorted cameras, squeeze boxes etc in the same window. I'm an inveterate window shopper in music shops but I've never seen a 6-string banjo this small. Is it unusual? Are they banjoleles with ideas above their station or guitar-banjos that have been left out in the rain? A Scottish speciality or someone's failed experiment? I'm sure a banjo expert out there may know. Leadfingers probably has one! RtS (naive questions a speciality) |
